(Information)
European Union (EU) is a major area of research in addition to being one of the most important economic and political blocs today, thanks to its various regulations in a number of policy areas and its relations with other countries and organizations.
The decision of the EU to open accession negotiations with Turkey on 3 October 2005 is an important step in the relations which have followed a fluctuated trend since the 1950's. This development further increased the interest of our country in EU affairs. In addition, the growing need for qualified personnel in the negotiation process necessitates academic research on EU-related topics.
European Union Research and Application Center-EKOAB was established for the following objectives: Examination of the history of European integration and Turkey-EU relations in various respects; publication of bulletin, journals and other periodicals in above mentioned topics; organizing certificated courses (for basic and professional training) with the aim of training the personnel of the private sector, state institutions and organizations, professional organizations and non-governmental organizations in issues related to the EU; organization of national and international panels, seminars, conferences and other similar activities; cooperation and conduct of joint projects with the EU related organizations and institutions.
