Successful International Workshop on Global Envrionmental Policy Learning
May 16-18, 2016
Scholars from the UK and Turkey gathered at a three-day long international workshop on global environmental policy learning at Izmir University of Economics. The workshop focused on the efforts of international actors (e.g. UN, World Bank, EU) and transnational networks of local authorities to stimulate environmental policy learning and spread environmental policy innovations. A particular focus has been put on sustainable cities. The exchange between British and Turkish scholars, as well as officials from the European Commission, Turkish NGOs and the Izmir Chamber of Commerce resulted in common research and publication projects.
The workshop has been organised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Bürgin, Head of EURAC, and Kai Oppermann, Senior Lecturer at University of Sussex. Together, they successfully applied for a workshop grant (25.000 Pound) of the British Council who financed the workshop.
