EKOAB Europe Day Events
Celebrated annually on May 9, the day of the Schuman Declaration, Europe Day aims to promote unity, peace, and shared values across Europe.
Izmir University of Economics European Union Research and Application Center (EKOAB) is organizing a series of events between May 4–8, to mark the Europe Day, addressing the current discussions and challenges of the European Union from different perspectives. All students and members of the university are warmly invited to attend.
Seminar: “International System, the European Union, and the Polycrisis of Liberal Hegemony”
Guest Speaker: Assoc. Prof. Elif Uzgören (Dokuz Eylül University)
In this seminar, Assoc. Prof. Elif Uzgören from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Dokuz Eylül University will discuss the position of the European Union in the face of systemic transformations and the crises of liberal hegemony.

Interactive Session: “Let’s Talk: Ask Europeans about Europe”
In this interactive session, students will have the opportunity to meet Erasmus students studying at our university, ask them questions about life in Europe, cultural experiences, and the role of the European Union in everyday life, gaining first-hand insights from different perspectives. This event is being organized in collaboration with the Office of International Affairs.

Presentation Session: “Current Issues in European Politics: Problems, Challenges and Responses”
This session aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the key challenges and debates facing the European Union. It will feature short student presentations on a range of contemporary topics, including the EU’s security challenges, EU–China relations, enlargement policy, the European Green Deal and many others. The event will showcase work prepared by students within the PSIR300 Current Issues in European Politics course and is open to all participants interested in better understanding the most pressing debates and challenges facing Europe today.
