After receiving her B.A. degree in Sociology from Middle East Technical University, Prof. Dr. Filiz Başkan obtained her M.A. and Ph.D. Degrees from Bilkent University Department of Political Science and Public Administration. She carried out her post-doctoral research in European University Institute- Robert Schuman Center for Advanced Studies between September 2000 and June 2001. Dr. Başkan, whose resarch areas are Islamic communities, Islamic parties, Islamic capital and extremist right parties, has published in national and international journals such as Middle Eastern Studies, Turkish Studies, Journal of Balkan and Near Eastern Studies, South European Society and Politics.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Kentmen received her BA degree from Istanbul University, Department of International Relations in 1999. She got her MA degree in European Studies from Bahçeşehir University (2002). She received her PhD in Political Science from University of Missouri Columbia in 2007. Since then, she has been working at Izmir University of Economics, Department of International Relations and the EU. She has published in national and international scholarly journals such as European Union Politics, International Poiltical Science Review, Mülkiye Dergisi and South European Society & Politics ve Turkish Politics. She became Associate Professor in Political Science in 2012 and won the Outstanding Young Scientist Award from Turkish Academy of Sciences in 2014.
After receiving his B.A. degree in Economics from Boğaziçi University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Değer Eryar obtained his Ph. D. Degree from University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2009. He explored the effects of financial globalization on Turkish macro economy and policy formation by using econometric methods in his dissertation. Assistant Professor Eryar taught microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics and political economy. After joining İzmir University of Economics he also taught graduate level courses such as international macroeconomics and political economy of the European Union. His recent research interests include the effects of capital flows on macroeconomic policies, the financial crisis in Eurozone, and the dynamics of job mobility in Turkey.
